Designing your advertising poster is a very challenging task indeed because you’re looking at presenting your idea on a limited space, and yet make it so interesting that you attract the attention of your target audience as they come and go.

So here’s an overall how-to guide to help you design an effective poster printing piece that would sure knock the socks out of your clients:

Your Target
The first thing you have to do is to identify and learn who your target audience is. This way, you’ll be able to customize your advertising posters to the kind of ad that would appeal to your market. And you have to remember, within your target market you also have to divide them further to different groups. Every client has his or her own different levels of needs and interests that you need to satisfy in order for your ad to become effective.

When you’ve identified your target market you can now be able to develop your design and poster printing copy according to the message you would want to impart, the auxiliary visual aids to help you emphasize further your message, the answers you have for your clients’ questions, the color and layout, and experiences and values that you can use to further confirm your product’s benefits.

The News
What’s so newsworthy about your business? What have you got that makes you different? Is your message valuable enough for you to share it to your target market? How can you create your layout to help you place your news in your poster? What elements should you use to emphasize your message? What can make your target readers stop and read on?

These are the things you need to answer so you would be able to provide a more effective design and copy for your ad. When you have a newsworthy message, the quicker it is for your target audience to identify with your ad and draw them to what you have to say.

Coherence
An effective ad means a coherent tool. This means that the layout of your design should be so easy and simple that your target readers would not have a hard time moving from one element to the next. There’s an easy flow that makes it effortless for the transition of one thought to another. Coherence then is the key to an effective ad. How do you develop it? By carefully planning the arrangement of all your information and elements based on your knowledge of your target’s reading pattern.

Finally, don’t forget to check on the details. Details do matter a lot. Make sure that you have a consistent format and layout, appropriate grammar, and correct spelling.
